My parents, brother and I left Montana and moved to Alaska in 1987. During my time in Alaska, I am fortunate to have graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage, owned and operated a small family business, met my wife of 30 years, and raised our two children.

Since 2018, I have had the privilege and honor of serving the people of Alaska as a Superior Court Judge. I am committed to maintaining public trust in the system, applying the law, impartially weighing the evidence and facts, and ensuring all individuals who appear before me are treated fairly and with respect. I understand that each case is significant to the parties, regardless of whether it is someone’s first time appearing in a courtroom or not. I believe with each case it is important to take the time to explain the court process and to give the parties, victims, and witnesses the opportunity for their voices to be heard. I am deeply aware of the impact my decisions have on the lives of the parties, victims, jurors, and, in some cases, our community. I do not take this aspect of my position lightly. I am committed to rendering each decision after carefully and fully listening to the facts, arguments, and positions and following what the law requires.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family camping, fishing and hiking in Alaska’s great outdoors.  I also very much enjoy spending the long winter months exploring Alaska on my fat-tire bike.

It’s a privelege to have the opportunity to serve my community in this position.
